This is the second trip in high school. Last year, we went to Puncak for MDT (mental development training). This year, we will go to Purwokerto, which is located in Central Java. For the first time, I get to ride a train in Indonesia. At least it was not as bad as I expected. In this live-in, my teachers said that we will live in other people's houses till Friday. I would be living in a house together with a friend, whose name is Tashia. At 10.30 p.m. we set off from Pasar Senen station and we are expected to arrive to 4 a.m. tomorrow morning. I hope I get sleep tonight. Some of my schoolmates who are a year below my age are so noisy... but at least I should be grateful that God gave me the health to go to Purwokerto today.

I woke up to see my friends playing cards. I hear their laughter and see their happy smiles. It makes me really happy somehow. I feel that my stresses are disappearing... even though I woke up feeling dizzy and nauseous. I hope we reach Purwokerto sooner. I'm feeling train-sick. Is train-sick even a word?
We arrived at Purwokerto at around 4 a.m. I felt so nauseous that I had to take in 2 types of medicines at once. We went to this restaurant called Pringsewu, and their food is okay I guess... Before we actually had breakfast, a lot of my friends were really nauseous and I had one friend who nearly vomited because he has not fully recovered from his sicknesses before the trip. After eating at the restaurant, my friends and I rode an open truck to the live-in site. My stomach somehow got upset when we reached the place so after we were sent using the truck, I continued my trip to the house that I was supposed to live in by riding a motorcycle that one of the villagers had. I reached the house safely and I was greeted warmly by the mother of my live-in house who I am going to call mom for the next 2 days. Her name is Siti. Mrs. Siti found out that I was sick so she ushered me to the room that Tashia and I were supposed to sleep in for the next 3 days and 2 nights. I rested for a while and 30 minutes to 1 hour later I went to the front yard and started watching my mom pull out a couple of weeds. Not long after, I started to help her pull out the weeds as well. I went back into the house and not long after, the father of the live-in house. His name is Saheri. Mr. Saheri is an organic farmer. I forgot to mention that Mr. Saheri and Mrs. Siti has a son named Fajar. Fajar is a shy boy at first. Mr. Saheri talked to Tashia and I about plenty of things; starting from Jakarta, Purwokerto, why did he became an organic farmer, about the lifestyle here and etc. The reason he became an organic farmer is because of the results of the vegetables during cultivation and the efficiency of it. The soil for organic farming can be used up to 5 times without actually putting the natural fertilizer, unlike the soil that is added with nitrogen fertilizer, which can only be used at 2 times maximum, or the result of the vegetables during cultivation won't be that good. After chatting with our dad, we ate lunch. Lunch was absolutely delicious! We ate eggplants with chili and cassava skin with rice. Simple but delicious. After eating, Tashia and I went to our room and took a nap. At around 2 p.m. we were called by our mother and headed off to the head of the neighborhood's house, which is the house where Cia and Anas lives in. Our mother had this kind of meeting where mothers from that neighborhood gather and talk about their household problems, it occurs every month. After the meeting, we went back and I took a shower. After taking a shower Tashia and I went back to Cia and Anas' house for a briefing with our facilitator in live-in. After the briefing, we went back home and there was a blackout. We created shadows with a flashlight with Fajar. We ate dinner and the lights went back on. Our dad came home bringing a bunch of lettuce and we helped him sort out the lettuce leaves. After helping him, Tashia and I went to sleep.

Tashia and I woke up at 5 a.m. I'm glad I got to sleep well and feel a lot better today. Tashia and I helped our dad in live in pick pink/purple spinach. It was really fun. After picking spinach, we ate breakfast and sorted the spinach out, if the leaves are not too good, we throw them, but then it does not go to total waste because our dad uses it to feed the fish in his ponds. He has two ponds. He has one in his front yard and another one in the spinach garden. After sorting out the spinach, we watched TV and played with the son and then went back to sleep. At around 1-2 hours later we woke up and helped our mom in live-in mix/stir the soil because she wants to plant lettuce. After mixing the soil tashia and i ate lunch. Then Tashia and i went to our room to take a nap. After napping, we went outside again to help our mom plant the lettuce. After planting the lettuce, Tashia took a shower. When she was taking a shower, rain came pouring down(when i was drowning that's when i could finally breathe, by morning gone was any trace of you i think I'm finally clean.) (LOL no that was only song lyrics) I felt really moody and in Indonesian we call it "galau" because it was raining then came to think of the person I had a crush on and sang love songs... I sound desperate. Bye. Not long after, maybe it's because of my horrible voice the rain became scared and it stopped. Tashia was done by that time and I took a shower straight away. After I finished showering, Tashia and I were called by the teachers to plant trees on a nearby river. I had to pose as if I was planting the tree but then in reality, I did not. After planting trees, we went to this place called OSK, which is like a place where people pray. We went to the cave of Mother Mary and we had a sort of briefing there. The way to the cave was really far and I was almost exhausted because of the steep roads. The way back home was much better but then we did not go straight home, we had to gather in front of Cia's and Anas' house to get shirts for tomorrow's activities. But then it turned out that the shirts were left in a car that was used by the principal to travel and he has already headed somewhere and we couldn't get the shirts. So we went back home and met our dad about to go to the mosque to pray. Tashia and I washed our feet and went inside our house. We wrote a reflection on our live in and then ate dinner while watching Indian dramas. We were like doing an Indian drama marathon and watched 3 series at once. After eating and watching the Indian dramas, we went straight to bed, feeling exhausted.

Tashia and I woke up at 5 a.m. again thinking that we would make a farewell letter for our parents at live-in. Because Tashia was lazy so we helped our mom slice chili and onions instead. I observed my mom while she was cooking. Her cooking only consisted of really simple ingredients, like salt, red sugar, chili, onions, and a bit of MSG. It still tastes really good. After my mom finished cooking I helped put the food from the pan to the plate and then helped her wash the cooking tools. When we were about to wash the cooking tools, Tashia and I met our dad's mother who we will call grandma in this entry cleaning up after cooking and having breakfast. We offered to help her wash the dishes and she lets us wash the dishes. After washing the dishes Tashia and i were thinking of when to shower and i let Tashia shower first while I eat breakfast. I ate breakfast while talking to mom and dad while watching gossip shows (insert) HAHAHAHA after I finished eating and after Tashia finished showering, I took a shower. After showering, I started packing. Tashia found out that I packed up first and called me a traitor but then packed her stuff as well. Both of us forgot to write the farewell letter and both of us panicked. We ended up breaking the task to two; Tashia writes, I draw. My drawing still lacks a lot of detail, but then at least it does not look so crappy. We presented the mini farewell gifts, said farewell and took a few pictures and went on a truck to go to a place called "balai desa" in Indonesian. At the "balai desa" we bid farewell to the people at Melung Village and we finally got our t-shirts. After getting the t-shirts we set off using the same truck to go to the place where the 10th and 12th graders are having their MDT and retreats. We had a holy mass and then ate lunch. During the holy mass, all of us were told that Ms. Uning's father passed away. I hope her father is accepted in God's arms. After lunch we set off to another cave of Mother Mary and prayed there. I took plenty of pictures there because it was my first time visiting that place. After visiting the cave we went to a place that sells souvenirs. I mean food. I bought 3 types of snacks that are uniquely from Purwokerto. After buying snacks we set off to the train station and waited about 1 and a half hours for the train to come because it was behind schedule. Really behind schedule. It was late by 30 minutes. We finally boarded the train by 8 p.m.. I hope we make it back to Jakarta on time! :):)

At 1 a.m. we finally arrived in Jakarta! My dad was waiting for me outside the station by the time I came. Just to make sure that I can go home, I searched for one of my teachers and asked him if its okay to go home or not. He said it was okay, so I went home. This marks the end of this year's trip, I can't wait for next year's! :D
it's nice you have a great experience to improve your capability.. bravo, my sweet niece..
